Jim Lyon, P.E. is a graduate of Texas A&M University ('65) with a degree in
Petroleum Engineering. He joined New Tech Engineering in January of 2001 with 35
years of engineering and management experience.
- Owned and operated Lyon Energy for more than 15 years. Handled vertical
and horizontal Well Planning, AFEs, Production Operations and Wellsite
Supervision in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico, serving independent companies and
investors.
- Extensive experience in most of the Basins of the Mid Continent, West
Texas and Texas Gulf Coast, as well as the Horizontal Chalk plays in South and
East Texas.
- Helped develop a high angle drill program in the deep Wilcox formation of
South Texas.
- Registered Engineer in the State of Texas.

Dusty Kinchen Petroleum Engineer |

Dusty Kinchen is a 1981 graduate of Texas Tech University, with a degree in
Petroleum Engineering. He joined New Tech Engineering in 2002.
- 20 years in the oil and gas industry, working for Enserch Exploration,
Oryx Energy and Kerr-McGee.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of drilling programs for
more than 400 wells ranging in depths from 3,000 feet to 22,400 feet in most
domestic U.S. Basins (Rocky Mountains, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma,
Louisiana, Mississippi) as well as inland bays and the Gulf of Mexico shelf and
deepwater.
- Experience ranging from rig site supervision to project management to the
supervision of an engineering staff.
- Currently working on several horizontal projects in the Barnett Shale in
North Texas, the Austin Chalk in East Texas and the Arbuckle in Oklahoma.

Daniel S. Carroll

Daniel S. Carroll is a 1970 graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, with a
B.S. in Petroleum Engineering. Dan has over 35 years of drilling and completion
experience in the Rocky Mountains and Mid Continent. Mr. Carroll joined New Tech
Engineering in 2006.
- Served as a well-site supervisor, field engineer, operations manager,
production superintendent and senior engineer for various oil and gas companies
throughout the U.S.

Norman Smith
Petroleum Engineer |

Graduate of University of Southwestern Louisiana (1973), B.S. in Petroleum
Engineering. He joined New Tech Engineering in 2006 bringing 34 years of
experience in engineering, operations and management in drilling and production.
- Extensive experience in Texas, South Louisiana, Rocky Mountains and GOM.
- International experience in Saudi Arabia, Peru, Mexico, Indonesia and Trinidad
- HPHT, MPD and horizontal projects
- Registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana

Bruce Patterson

Bruce M Patterson is a graduate of Wyoming University (‘75) with a degree in
Petroleum Engineering. He joined New Tech Engineering in May of 2007 with 32
years of engineering and operation management, planning, preparing all documents
to executing any project to a cost effective end, netting 80 % & greater success
of most oil & gas investments supervised.
- Responsible for the design and implementation of drilling programs for more than
3,200 wells ranging in depths from 1000 ft. to 26,700 ft. in 14 States & Federal
leases, Alaska Offshore – Cook inlet Operation, and 3 Provinces of Western
Canada in the past 32 years.
- He has worked for Shell Oil Company, Juniper Petroleum Corp., Petrogulf Corp,
Whiting Corp., and various other companies as a Consultant & Director.
- Experience ranges from roustabout to Vice President of Operations & Engineering
of companies in the top 50 in the Fortune 400 Company listing of most profitable
organizations in the past 32 years.
